Looking for recommendations for a new water pump for a 302/5.0L roller block.I think it’s a counter clockwise/ reverse. Brand? Part number? Lot of choices out there, any input would be appreciated.

What is the application ? Pickups, vans and Mustangs, T-Bird/Cougar had reverse rotation pumps. The Vics, Marquis and Lincoln Towncars had std rotation pumps

I’m not sure the engine is in a 56 F100 but this is one on it.
I looked up those numbers and referenced a 1970 302. I thought the later roller block were counterclockwise.
This is a driver side intake if that makes a difference.

The engineering costs for that housing were assigned to the Midsize cars (the second "O"). Could have been used on anything though. The driver side inlet was a post 1969 thing, The earlier pumps used a passenger side inlet as did the post 69 small Bronco's. It is a std rotation pump. It can be used on a roller block as well. The 1980-1991 big cars used a std rotation pump too, they all had roller blocks after 1985. I'm running a 1988-up std HV rotation pump on my 331 in my 77 Comet. The 1988-up pumps had aluminum housings.
Just my luck... I ordered one last night (CCW) and will be here today, guess I’ll be shipping back and buying another.
So what do you think this engine is Could be out of? It has GT40 P heads on it as well. I’d like to have a reference when ordering parts. You said in a different thread the block is a F1SE, possibly a Explorer. Would the Explorer have std rotation?
Thanks for your knowledge.

The Explorers used a reverse rotation pump along with a unique timing cover to match. This timing cover was also used on the 90's T-Bird/Cougar 5.0 but with a different waterpump (but also reverse rotation) Looks like the previous owner swapped an Explorer 5.0 into your truck but used an older front end accessory drive (FEAD) The Explorer/Mountaineer- T-Bird/Cougar FEAD setup was shorter than the other FEAD setups. What I would get for your truck is an 88-up Crown Vic pump and shed some weight here by replacing the iron pump with an aluminum pump. You can buy these at your local parts house, no need to order one.
I found a casting “ 8K7 “ on the engine block would this be the date stamp? Decode it?
Yea that's the date code. 8 meaning 1998 (this determined by the "F" in the engineering prefix), K is the month = October, the 7 is the day of the month it was cast .
