I have 1/2 tank on my DEF and decided to try out a trucker's station (TA-Petrol) because I happened to be in the area (no stations local to me). I waited in line, got to the pump, went inside to pay, came out and found there was only one nozzle for both diesel and DEF. The pump nozzle, of course, doesn't fit. So, I went back inside, canceled my pump and bought a 2.5 gal jug.
So, my question... I've seen adapters for nozzles, but I thought those were magnetic for shut-off purposes. Are those adapters also for situations where there's only one larger nozzle?
They won't be the same nozzle. There is usually a small, sometimes iconspicuous nozzle for the DEF at truckstops. They're almost always blue, similar to the pic below.
good think you CNX the order. Never going to be the same nozzle. It was probably hiding behind a black flap you didn’t notice. They don’t usually hang out there “on” the pump. Once you find it you’ll never miss it.

I could be wrong, but this sure sounds like you avoided ruining your emissions system. Can you imagine a diesel pump so clean that you could Shoot DEF through it right after filling up with no wash out?

Hahaha! Think I would be more worried about shooting a hose full of DEF into my fuel tank and ruining my engine before the emissions junk!
Sounds like the handle and hose were just missing is all.
I have always seen the def in an enclosed pump like the pics above. Sometimes is just a cover your lift or behind and plastic lid to lift.
I personally only need def every 4-5K so It has, in the last 7 years, always been my practice to fill using the 2.5 gal jugs at a different time from fueling.
