It must vary from truck to truck on how well these work. They worked perfectly on my 2017 Super Duty and I was extremely happy with them. My new 2021 F450 not so much. When it gets cloudy (with no rain what so ever) they will automatically swipe on a regular interval. When it started raining heavily they wouldn't swipe at all. Definitely something wrong with them and will be having the dealer check them.
I must be lucky, the auto wipers work great on our 2017 F450. The bright light auto on and off, not so much. I got tired of it flashing at people with small tail lights. Like a motorcycle. The lights, I change myself. I am on our second windshield and both worked fine. I do try to keep the windshield clean but have seen no difference. I did put my dashcam on the passenger side of rear view mirror to avoid the sensors.
Mine work fine and have had rain sensing wipers for many years on multiple cars, wouldn’t buy a car without it. For those that think it’s a stupid feature you either don’t live where there is lots of rain or don’t mind wipers running when there is little rain/mild mist with constant condition changes mile by mile.
For those that live in areas that rain often it’s a fabulous feature.
They adjust based on speed of vehicle and level of rain.
Love that they run when needed.
For those that have issues, make sure the sensor is cleaned and not covered in haze or bug guts. If they still don’t work you should have serviced, I had one car that the gel pack wasn’t installed correctly and had to have a new windshield installed to resolve. After that no issues…
Mine work great, first vehicle I’ve had them on. Now that I’m used to them it’s a must have. In south Ga and FL it will rain on you somewhere everyday this time of year but maybe one mile and not the next and from a toad strangler to a sprinkle. Only time I turn them off Is if I’m at the carwash or cleaning the windshield with it running. I do understand why not everyone likes everything automated.
Seems highly vehicle dependent. Mine work pretty darn well. I like the feature. But, I also got death wobble. I’d trade the death wobble for poorly calibrated rain-sensing wipers.
After playing with my settings I'm guessing that quite possibly the rain sensing wipers on my truck are not enabled. I can go into settings and toggle the rain sensing wipers on/off but they work like normal interval wipers and will not swipe automatically when rain falls on the windshield. I loved these on my 2017 Super Duty.
Mine worked great in my ‘16 F150, my ‘18 F350, and my current ‘21 F350. You all do know you have to adjust the sensitivity on the stalk, right?
In fact they work as well, or even better than in my wife’s Porsche.
The auto hi beams def work better than my wife’s Porsche. Very happy with them.

I am in the camp with them turned off along with HL. My 2016 F-150 had them my 2017 Explorer had them now my 2020 Expedition and 2021 F-250 have them. I remember trying to use them once in my 16 and I didn't like them just turning on and off by themselves.
My wife uses them in the Expedition, and likes them, when I drive it I turn them off. I am not sure on the F250 how they work I have not turned them on.
I did live in the PNW for awhile a long time ago and can see where they might be nice to have there.
