Looking for some feedback from members who have had to remove their EGR cross overs for one reason or another.
Pretty simple info im looking for:
Did the lower bolts break?
What year was the Truck?
How many Miles?
Did you do anything ahead of time in the form of prep? (I've heard PB blaster for a week, Vibration through the bolts, Heat, etc. anything else?)
My Truck is a 17' with 55k on it, seems my odds are about 50/50?
I didn't have any trouble with my 17, BUT the truck was pretty much still brand new when I did it. Now my 13 model when I did it, had about 40k on it. I hit the lower bolts with penetrating oil the night before, no real big issues.
I did an EGR delete on my 2011 6.7 PSD. When I ordered the kit I had the same question. I ended up spraying PB Blaster penetrating oil on it daily for about 3 days to let it get worked in there. Luckily I didn't have any problems.
The 11' had 56K miles on it when I did it.
Spray it with penetrating oil for a few days and you should be fine.
Thought I’d give an update incase anyone is interested. Sprayed bolts with PB for about a week before. One of the lowers came loose with just a 1/4 ratchet, the other I had to step-up to a 3/8” but was very careful.
both lowers came out just fine and showed no signs of rust/corrosion/ or heat stress.
