Does anyone know of a good place to penetrate the firewall to run a new cable? I've decided to go completely aftermarket for my stereo and need to run a power line straight to the battery for my amp.
Also, anyone have any ideas on a better place to mount it other than under the passenger seat? I've done this several times in other vehicles and it always works well!
Mount in rear side panel and cool amps with 12 volt electric fans. This is a nice neat install. Nobody can see it and you won't lose any interior room. I placed two amps in a side panel of a Nissan Pathfinder that I owned. Ther was an access door right behind them. This was a good service door to adjust gains and replace fuses if necessary.
There is a hole already in the firewall that is covered by a rubber grommet. It is directly in front of the driver to the lower left of the large black circular compartment (attached to the firewall) which is behind the engine fuse box. Pop the grommet off, it will lead right above the gas pedal.
If you do not want to run it across to the drivers side. You can fish it thru the fender right behind the battery and thru the passenger side kick panel. There is a rubber grommet there where the antenna wire comes thru. It is extremely easy if you remove the fenderwell. I pull the fenderwell everytime I need to run a new wire for some reason. It looks alot better to because you can hide the wires. IThe fenderwell is held in by 5 7/32 bolts. There are 4 easily visible, 1 is under the front of the running board. Then there are 3 body clips (little plastic push pins) in the front of the fender well.
