Unhappy NEG. battery wire

What is it with the neg. battery wire??? Ford wants $160.00 for the wire. I've found some costing less on the internet. The wire cost alot only on the 4x4's why? I think I found one thats a motorcraft for just under $70.00 is that about as good as it's going to get?? Please has anyone had the samething happen?? I don't want to use one of those cheap Q-fix things on there. They always have worked loose at the worst times!! Ford got us with this one [160.00 for a wire ] I'm off road with this exped.EB alot mile from anywhere so it's got to hold up!! Let me know the best place to buy from and it has to FIT. THANKS

What is a negative battery wire? Are you talking about the negative cable that attaches to the block (or frame) and acts as a ground? I have never noticed if it is different from a typical battery cable, but if it isn't, a cable should only cost around $10.

What makes it a $160 part? And why do you think your part is bad?

corrosion from a bad motorcraft battery.. It looks like two wire coming from the connction, but they say there more down below view? I've checked with 2 ford dealers and they say the same.. It's a 98 but with the navig. 4x4's system and 32 V 5.4L which was own by some Ford exec. at the AZ. proving groungs. I bought it as a ford program car, It has [SVT] markings on it. It was a good deal at the time? I do get factory info and Q. sheets every 3or4 months. Mostly from something called [SPECIAL VEHICLE TEAM] but is the neg. battery cable, 2 off the battery then 3to4 out of sight. Beside the rear wiper not working it's been a champ. THANKS

If the connector is bad right around the battery, do you have enough length to cut off the bad section and install a new connector? Just a thought.
