That looks fun, especially with a can! I don't recognize the model.
My 10/22 has a stainless barrel, folding adjustable stock, picitany rails.Talo tactical I think is the version name. We shoot out in the back yard, wouldn't much care for city living.
Well I suppose I owe an apology to squirrels. I got the new IPR nut in and when opening the hood I see a large field rat run across the back of the engine. That SOB chewed up some of the stuff that I already fixed . While I went to get a stick to skewer him with he disappeared. So I got out some rat cocaine and I'll deal with the carcass tomorrow. Work can wait until this rat is dead.
a rodent. Rat or squirrel - they are the same except the squirrels taste better.
.22 with can and optic = the most fun varmint gun possible.
If if I wasn’t afraid of another boating accident (all firearms were sadly lost ‘at sea’), I’d build a gun like that. Keeping the tree rats out of my soffits and attic has been a challenge lately.
I've not ate a rat so I won't argue with that .; - )
I would shoot but it was in engine compartment. Put some of BLOX poison out - very effective, just have to make sure your dogs won't find it or eat the dead rats. Rats eat it like candy but and it makes them thirsty, when they drink water it is all over for them. Just hope he doesn't make it back to the truck after the water. They would probably handle your squirrel problem. I had to remove some dead rats from our basement but there are no more signs of them in the house. Thought the problem was over but not when you live near a jungle.
We had some mice in our shop years ago and my youngest son and I were working on a project when I spotted one. My son picked up the blow gun and shot. The dart went right through the mouse and pinned him to the plywood backing on the workbench. Awesome shot.
Well I know everyone likes happy endings and closure of a problem thread so here is the closing report.
The rat got to the poison, sadly no carcass. Removed the new nest from top of engine, not going to repair vacuum lines again until I'm confident there are no more rat problems.
Added the missing IPR nut. Took a bit of cranking but HPOP oil pressure came up, started and I took it for a 10 mile test run. All the numbers looked good to me. When I got back I stopped the engine and waited for a minute or so and it started right back up normally. So if something was on the drain back ball valve it has washed cleaned during the run.
I suppose I'll just add oil as needed. Unless oil consumption gets too bad. I don't put that many miles on the old girl unless I go on a trip.
Thanks for everyone's input and thread participation.
