I've ordered a Platinum F350 SRW and it's scheduled to be delivered 9/28. I'm excited, this is a really nice truck, but.... My wife has picked out a fifth wheel camper that will exceed the payload capacity of a SRW F350. So I'm going to go into the dealer and tell him I want to reorder a F350 dually. They didn't ask for any money so I have nothing in it financially and didn't sign anything that suggested a commitment. I have a good relationship with them having dealt with them for 30 years and don't want to sour that relationship. I think they will work with me but am curious if there might be someone here with experience and wisdom in this area.
I guess it depends on what ELSE you will use the truck for. If you will be driving it other then for towing, I would tell Wife to pick a smaller trailer.
Really, think long about it and chat with your Wife. If you are to drive this a lot, ask her if she would like to put the $$$ into the tank AND be the one driving it all the time unloaded.
As a Female I can tell you that you need to sit down with her and have a serious chat with pen/paper to put Numbers down about Fuel, Ins & trailer costs.
PLUS if you are going to order now you won't have it till Winter time anyway

If you want the dually.......let all the jealous guys that are trying to talk you out of what YOU and YOUR WIFE Want eat their hearts out. They aren’t the ones paying your bills! And you probably know more about how your dealer will react than anyone here! Get what you want and enjoy! Life is too short to worry about what others want you to want!
Unless the truck is going to be a dedicated tow rig I'd get a smaller trailer and stick with the SRW. But it's your money so you do what you want.
Don't be surprised if the dealer wants money down on the next order. You backed out of this one so what's to say you won't do it again, plus you want a dually which will be a harder sell if you back out. This is the argument the dealer will use against you.
I’ve been through this scenario! It should not matter AT ALL to the dealer. Especially right now, inventory is low and they will have no problem adding a truck to their stock. You are spending a bunch of money, GET WHAT YOU WANT! And, don’t feel obligated or let the dealer act as if you owe them anything for the change. It sounds like you have a good relationship, as do I with my dealer, and they should be more than happy to order you a new truck.
