302 Swap or not?

okay heres the deal. ihave a 2wd 94 ranger with a 2.3 that has seen its better days. in the next year i will probly have to have some sort of a new motor. i also have a 91 f250 2wd that i am getting rid of. the body is rusted and as it is a 2wd pickup there not worth a whole lot around here. the 302 engine is not in terrible condition. it runsand drives good. auto trans has a little trouble but once it warms up it is fine. question is do you think if i cant get 1000 out of it or just sell it to a junkyard for a few 100 and keep mthe motor to put in my ranger? will this engine have the correct oil pan and headers for my application? also iknow the older 302's fit but what about these new ones with the great big fuelie intake on top?thanks

the headers and pan will not work.you will need a fox body oil pan and a conversion header, advance adapters has them and all the the stuff you will need.if the 302 is going to left fuel injected then there will need to be allot of electrical stuff done, but dont let it stop you.as for the intake i know if you use a mustang or explorer intake it will fit under the hood but i dont think the truck intake will fit.let me know if there is any thing ells.

p.s. a v8 ranger is much cooler than a 2.3

i think i might try to find a carberated 302 as it would be a lot easier to hookup. or maybe ill see about a 4.0 as this seems like it would be a fairly simple swap. any of you guys that have swapped to v8s have old motors to sell? thanks

you may be better off using the efi long block and putting the carbueration on it.

if your gonna swap an engine, go with a 302 and a t-5 manual tranny. That would be one ranger that i'l love to see, especially under my hood!

yes all 302 manifolds will work mine is a roller cam 5.0 with a carb on it.your vents and heat and radio are un affected but guages could be hard,i put aftermarket guages in mine.if you choose to go efi use the mustang manifold and ford motorsports sels a vary simple haness and computer to swap it in,it is also available from summit racing, that is the one i used on my 92 5.0 explorer.

do you think i would be able to retain my factory gauges somehow? im not sure exactly how theyhookup but i would like to keep my fuel , temp, oil press, and batery gauge as well as the speedo. as for check engine lights and things like that im not real concerned. also things like headlights and tailights are hooked up through the fuse box under the dash right? does that box have one positive wire running to it to power all that stuff and then just ground at the accesory? im not sure if thats how these elctronics work or not? any help from u guys would be big help. thanks
