Pinion End Play Question

I posted a question about rebuilding a 9" differential in the driveline and transmission forum. I need some help about adjusting the looseness of a pinion on the ring gear. Don't know if this forum is active but if you have knowledge about adjusting lash and these ...I could use your insight. tom

Adjusting the gear lash properly requires some specialized measuring equipment that most of us home mechanics don't have. You might want to assemble your diff and take it to a specialty shop for final adjustment. Gear lash is should be .008-.012 so you only have .004 to work with.
