Pip

Actron diagnosis indicates intermittent loss of PIP
(Profile Ignition Pick up). What does this mean and what should I look for to fix?

Thanks for the advice. Checked thread and found good ideas but to no avail. The green wire you mentioned seems to be in good shape, I even replaced ignition coil (cheap, easy). Where does the green wire go? Also, you mentioned a wire near the master cylinder. Would this be the one that goes to the (-) terminal?

PIP is also known as the Hall-Effect sensor, a magnetic inductance sensor in the distributor. Instead of the distributor sending a spark via the rotor, the rotor trips a magnetic sensor which in turn fires the coil at the appropriate time. Your error may be a loose wire, poor ground or just bad sensor.
