2004 F250 6.0 Powerstroke Diesel (build date 8/2003). Curious problem, when I go to shut off the engine, it keeps running until I open the door. It does have a remote start, I disconnected it, and it didn't change anything.
I'm going to disconnect batteries this afternoon, hoping that will reset GEM, but I really don't have any clue what else to look for. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
The radio also stays on until the door is open. Specifically, if I turn the key, without running engine, and play the radio, turn the key back to off, the radio stays on until I open a door. So, same thing, ignition circuit (apparently) is live until the opening the door shuts it down. Crazy.

It's supposed to do that. It's called the accessory delay function. It also works for the windows.
I'm banking your issue with it staying running until you open the door is related to the remote start, which would be aftermarket because your truck wouldn't have come with one from the factory. Something has gone amiss with the wiring for it.
The radio and windows, however, will and are supposed to continue to work for I think 9 minutes or so after the key is turned off, or until the door is opened, whichever happens first. The truck was built that way from the factory.
