Has anyone disabled the door chime on their 17SD other than using FORscan. I remember on my 2011 there was a connector you could pull a pin out of and it would disable the chime. I really wouldn't care if I lost all functionality for the chime but the "door open - key in ignition" chime is very irritating.

Thanks
and LOUD !
I too wanted to do that.
also turn off the Bed cargo light when the doors are open.
The switch is in the latch itself. Open the door, then use a screwdriver to latch the door, and the truck will think the door is closed.
Until you forget and slam the door on a closed latch... I've done that a few times with the hood on my '92 F-150. "Slam the hood, doesn't latch. Slam the hood again, dosen't latch again. WTF is going on? Oh, my gut tripped the latch as I was leaning over the grill..."

Yup I just tried that. That is the case. I am looking at FORscan but the whole process seems a bit overwhelming. Would hate to screw up the trucks firmware.

The new forscan is much more user friendly, no more changing 1's and 0's just plain language changes. i was surprised when i went in to change my fuel tank size it just asked me to enter the size of the tank instead of doing Chinese algebra and screwing it up.

Yeah, I've done it many times over the years and trucks. I mainly mentioned that so OP can try it to confirm that the switch is in the door latch.

I thought the same when I first learned about Forscan. It's actually very easy. There's lots of information in the big thread on here, and YouTube instructional videos. Just be sure the very first thing you do is save all the original files...that way if anything were to happen, you can go back to 100% stock.

Really? It's been a while since I've used it. If it has gotten that easy, that's awesome!
Okay guys I have been reading up on Forscan. The Forscan thread is a lot to take in. I also checked the Forscan forum. Tomorrow I will check out YouTube. I am also going to order the OBDLinkEX adapter. That is the correct one, right?

This is the one I use. I see it is currently unavailable on Amazon right now....so not sure if they've got a new model out now, or if they are just out of stock on this one...

There has been a section for plain-text changes for a while now. Not everything can be selected from those options and will still require register changes.
To the OP, it's really not that difficult - there are many videos on youtube that cover it. The best advice anyone can give you is to BACK UP your modules before changing anything. That way if you make any mistakes at all you can revert back to 100% stock.
