I have no wiper function. I hadn’t used my wipers in a few months. When I went to use them this week the module clicks but no wiper function however the windshield fluid pump works. I have a brand new motor (did check the contacts) and two control modules (behind the glove box) from a donor truck and put the new motor in as mine seemed to be locked up. I also tried the other module. No change. Tried a different 8.25 amp fuse from the cab fuse box with no change and verified continuity of fuse.
In my research I found this photo and did verify I have zero resistance from battery ground to wiper motor wire #57. I also have 12v at #65. I tried testing the different high and low wires with the wiper switch at various locations with no DC voltage detected I even waited as I assume voltage would be intermittent with the wiper delay.
I don’t know what to do next. Steering wheel switch? I feel that is ok as the module clicks when wiper are activated. The only other thing I can think of is a bad wire between module and motor... ??
Ok so I’m on the right track. #61 #56 and #58 the three wires going to the bottom grey plug on the wiper motor do not have continuity to the module. So there must be a another connector or fuse/relay in between the two that is breaking continuity...
Well I found the wire diagram and it doesn’t show anything in between so I’ll pull the connector at the fire wall and test each side for continuity. The other thing in play here is I did a 5.0 to 4.9 swap this summer so I changed the whole engine bay harness. That shouldn’t matter unless a 93 4.9 and 94 5.0 had firewall wires running to different pins. Everything else works fine so that seems odd to me. I haven’t been able to track down the diagram with the engine bay harness to dash yet.
Apparently they did have different pin locations I think it is the C202 connector that has different pin locations for the 93 4.9 and 94 5.0 harness. I realize I’m answering my own questions but maybe it will help someone down the line.
I found these diagrams for the c202 connector as described above. The wiper motor wires appear to use the same pins from 1993 to 1994... I’ll have to verify with the meter and test from the c202 to wiper motor and c202 to module. That should give me something to go off of.
Nice, with pics...yes
When you swap instrument clusters, you stay with the year you have, they changed them, for the 'better', when you change motors, you keep all the wiring in the truck you are putting the motor in, not the wiring the motor came out of, unless it is same year. Winds up being less of a headache.
87-91 same
92-93 same
94-95 same
you may have seen these,Steve83 has a lot, I wish I knew how to look up. 1983 Ford Bronco Diagrams picture | SuperMotors.net 1983 Ford Bronco Diagrams picture | SuperMotors.net
Yeah I'm finding that out the hard way. I used a 93 4.9 donor and put it in a 94 5.0 so I had to use the 4.9 harness. Turns out that swap is harder than advertised. Basically everything under the hood needs switched. I also realized once it was too late that the 4.9 didn't have airbags or the same trailer wiring in the engine harness so eventually I need to add those into the 4.9 harness. Learning as I go. Also thanks for that diagnostic sheet. I will utilize it!
The problem was at the c202 connector. The weird thing is that my 94 truck doesn’t match the 94 c202 diagram or the 93 or 95. So I’m not sure what’s up with that. But was able to match the pins up by using the old harness I thankfully still had. Continuity verified things. Put it all back together and it works great!
