F150 controls vs. Explorer controls
Just went for a trip driving in my wife’s Explorer, also a Ford. SO why are the controls all so damned bass-ackwards? When you’re used to driving an F150, it really f’s up your brain and you need to keep taking your eyes off the road to find a switch.
For example:
Try to use the adaptive cruise, the buttons are similar but in different places on the wheel. They do the same things, just can’t find them because their positions are different.
Try to change the radio station, instead of pushing left or right arrow on wheel, you need to use the up/down button
Try to turn on the wipers, you get high beams---the switch is on the wrong side of the steering wheel.
Try to adjust the temperature, you get radio volume.
Stop at the gas station, you instinctively stop at the wrong pump---fuel filler door is on the wrong side.
Telescopic steering and power seats---buttons are in the right places. WOW! The guy or robot with the screwdriver knew where to install these!
Is the Ford rep still trolling around this site? Has anybody at Ford ever heard of standards? Why didn’t you just reverse the positions of the gas and brake pedals to be consistent with the rest of the backwards Explorer stuff? Should have bought her a pickup truck instead.
Seriously though, does anyone know why they do this? Seems to be a deliberate attempt to annoy the customer and it works.

With that being said, it’s really silly to complain about the switches and the fuel door location on a vehicle that’s not your vehicle whereas the
primary driver of said vehicle knows how every switch works and which side of the vehicle the fuel door is located......plus, there’s an arrow on the fuel gauge that points to the fuel door location.

'How Boring, Ford saves all this money using the same steering wheel and switches yet does not pass along savings to us. I wish when I got in my wifes car I had a slight change of scenery'
