400 engine

Exclamation 400 engine

Problem with rear main bearing ,crank marked 5MAB with a C below, casting number D7TE-A2B. Rear bearing is to narrow to fit in bearing bolw.have tried with 2 diffrent brands , Clevite and King. When i measure it differs about 3 thenth of a millimeter or 1/64 inch the bearing is to narrow to fit.

All help is welcom.

It might be an illusion but it looks like the thrust sides are pinched in a little? Can you push it on with a little force? If so what it measure across the thrust surfaces once it's on? If it's in spec, run it.

Yes it´s an illusion , tried with force , with the result that ,it looks tth crank.

I'm a little confused I think. Must have missed something. You said "rear main bearing", but the bearing in the pic is the thrust bearing, which is the center or #3 bearing. It definitely won't fit the rear cap or block journal. I hope the fix is that simple.

That's correct. the thrust bearing always goes in the middle. always seat it by pounding the crank back and forth with a dead blow hammer before torqueing the cap down .

Thanks yes i´m an idiot, the engin have been apart for a long time , and i´m so used to that the thrust bearing are at the rear. And" main bearing" is my one translation from swedish.
