I have a 1977 Ford F-250 and I am trying to install a digital dash but my old gauge cluster is ready to turn to dust so I have been searching for a reproduction one with no luck. What are my options here? Is there any new old stock stuff around or do I have to take my chances on another used one?
Does your original al cluster have gauges at top left and right or idiot lights? Dennis Carpenter carries the back plates for both. My guess is your new digital cluster just needs a mounting surface, so it shouldn't matter which you use.
Beat me to it Rich. Yeah, maybe detach the speedo tube from the vehicle or the cluster back before you pull the cluster ALL the way out I still need to get that out so I can measure for the replacement.
Strength in supporting opinions and experiences. I will X2 your advice all day long and most night and weekends. Unless I'm. then no . Lol
Haha. Some of it is advice, some is "Here is how you don't do it, whish Ida....".
Anywho back on dash topics, you know why the speedo cables came in different lengths? Is it simply a manual vs automatic thing or was there variation in those two categories? Ima measure either way, but still curious.
I know that if you had cruise control you had a 2 piece cable, due to the CC piece (sensor?) in the middle. Clemem41 sorry for the thread HJ. But maybe this info will come in handy?
