Was wondering on how good of coverage the Bushwacker OE flares give you to protect the fender lip and the front of the rear wheel from stone chips. I don't have any damage yet but I live on the gravel and am always worried about stone chips. Actually the front of the rear wheels seems to have rock guard from the factory and I can tell it's been taking hits from stones. These michelin tires love to throw stones! I see vehicles at work that are 5 years old and all chipped around the fenders. Pictures would be great! Thanks.
Mine stick in past the edge of the lip so there is no way a rock will catch the aluminum. I'd be more worried about the flare leaving scratched on the paint from debris getting behind the rubber gasket. I had the fenders sprayed with Line-X before installing the flares so I'm double covered and it ended up looking pretty good. There is a little bit of Line X showing past the rear flares but not enough to bother me.
Here's a picture of the whole truck. If you want a closeup of the flares I can get one tomorrow. My Line X guy mocked the flares up and traced a line around their edge so he knew where to spray the liner but when the flares were mounted for real the rears ended up with about an 1/8"strip of bedliner sticking out past the flare. It's not too mad but it kind of bugs me whenever I look at it, the fronts are perfect with no visible bedliner.
It looks good . more durable than the film for sure with the black flare that 1/8 inch blends right in . Bush wacker flares ?
Yes they are Bush wacker OEM.
I got them off Amazon, they were about the cheapest. The gator back flaps I bought from a member here.
Most people probably never notice the overhang of the liner but it is noticable if your standing right next to the truck and it's clean.

I ordered the OE flares and am going to put protective tape on the fenders to stop damage.
