That round thing that the hose is attached to is a check valve. As long as it seals, you can leave it. On the other side of the valve, all that hard piping going into the head has exhaust inside it. After awhile, the acid in the exhaust will usually eat up the check valve, it may have already. If the valve leaks, you will get exhaust out of the rubber pipe.
I would try it, if it doesn't leak you can make this a project for later. If it does leak, you can unscrew the valve and plug it off or weld it shut, or they do make plug-off kits to put 6 plugs in the head. But as you can see, they look very corroded and it may be a difficult job. But that would be the permanent fix and it would get rid of all those pipes.
