So my adapter plate cracked and now my starter bolt won't tighten up so i am needing to replace the plate. I have a few questions before i start for people who have done this before.
Besides the 6 bolts holding the tranny to the block, is the plate bolted in any way to either one of them. From what I am gathering it sounds like it may just be dowel pins.
When removing the plate, most threads said to remove the transmission. If it is not bolted on, is there anyway to just split the block and tranny enough to pull it out of there? If so how far does it need to be apart to be able to do that?
Yea it is on the alignment dowels that align the trans to engine. You are going to have the trans out basically. With all that's going on under there with down pipe it's not really feasible to think otherwise.
Are you sure the plate is cracked or are the threads just pulled? I would attempt a thread insert to avoid so much work.
