91 E-350 E40D Trans Issue
Hi Everyone.
My 91 Super Club Wagon recently started giving me some transmission woes: When I put it in D I dont hear the transmission engage, if I give it gas it may start to move but it takes 15-20 seconds and its very slow. If I drop the trans all the way down to 1 or L (cant remember what it shows) and give it gas it begins to move after about 3 seconds and at this point I can then shift to 2 and then to D and drive like normal. If I come to a stop I am able to stay in D and all is ok when I start driving again. If I stop and go into Reverse and then switch back to D its also ok. Incidentally I never have any issues with reverse - it always engages right away, even if I just started the van after having been sitting for a while. I've added Lucas ATF fluid but hasnt really helped.
What are your all thoughts on this one?
If it matters, its an E-350 with a 7.5L 460 and the whole van has 110,000 miles on it (original drivetrain).
