ABS Light - 4WD Light
2007 Ford Escape XLT 3.0L 170K
Hello all. The ABS light is on steady and the 4WD light flashes. There are times when I press the brake pedal and everything feels as it should. But, there are other times when I press the brake pedal and it feels like the ABS system has engaged. This can happen at any speed. Rolling up to a stop sign at 5 KM/h for example. In addition, when this happens I can hear a faint ticking sound that appears to be coming from the dash / front console.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Much appreciated. I should have mentioned this in my original post. The truck was in the shop last week to have the exhaust flex pipe replaced. I had the mechanic check out the tone rings. They appear to be fine.

Will do that when I visit him next. Could one or more bad sensors produce the effect that I discuss in my original post?
