2002 v10 vibrations

Picked this v10 up and going through it. It has a vibration above 60 or so. I did the U joints because they were needed anyway and it’s still there. Might be the tires or shocks or something…
But while I was under the vehicle I noticed the previous owner had coated the underside with some sort of almost epoxy like material I’m guessing it is to inhibit rust.
now I don’t know what these things are called but my understanding is that they help alleviate vibrations.

what are they called?
also would stand to reason that if they were coated like this it would make them ineffective?

Vibration dampener.

Having at vibration at that speed is a common issue for us.

This thread covers quite a bit

I still haven't figured out mine. Possibilities include: Pinion Bearing, Wheel Bearings, Drive shaft, U joints, Slip Yoke all the way to transmission and transfer case.

Understood. Thanks! I saw that thread and will dig in on it later. Fancy name...vibration dampener! LOL
OK so you think that it is fine to be coated with that epoxy like cement? I was thinking that it was not allowing it to dampen the vibrations properly since it was all cemented up...

I just went through all of that and start with the simple things. Does it smooth out at all at a higher speed? You said you replaced the joints, did you put the driveshaft back in phase? Did you use a quality u joint? Have your tires been balanced? Is your slip joint properly greased? Have you had the driveshaft balanced? Has there been any other recent work done? I don't recall if you said it was 4wd. If so take the rear shaft out and put it in 4 hi and drive it at that speed. If it still vibrates that will tell you it is NOT the rear driveshaft. If it does not vibrate that will tell you then most likely it is something with the rear driveshaft. Litterally make a list of all the possibilities and start checking them off.

Yes, if it is cemented by that coating, you should chip it off to free it up.
