99 Explorer fuel filter removal

The video on youtube makes it look real easy. It seems its never as easy as the video.
The quick disconnect is anything but. Do I need a special tool to remove the lines from the filter? If so, how can i remove them without the tool?

You need the ford quick disconnect tool. They sell them at all the auto parts stores and they don't cost all that much.
Depending where you live they can be hard to get off even with the tool if their all rusted up.Sometimes they come off easy, sometimes not so much. You have to get the tool all the way in to release the lines.
Also before you attempt taking the fuel filter off, pull out your fuse or relay for your fuel pump while the engine is running to get any pressure out of the lines, even then be prepared for some fuel to come out when you disconnect the line.Don't be directly underneath when doing this or your may get some fuel on yourself. (I know it's happened to me, No Fun!)
Good luck!

Thank you much, I appreciate the info.
I am weary of the dont get fuel on yourself part. Ha... I pretty much have to lay really close to under it.
