I am considering changing to synthetic in my 4R100 but I got to thinking, I have the Derale thermostat installed and I am guessing I will need to bypass that in order to get a though flushout of the Dexron that's in there now. Anyone done this with a thermostat in the line?
,I had it done this year at a dealer that I bought other vehicles from (ford). They're cool about letting me in the shop with the tech. I learn, and he asks me about mods like the derale. Anyway, he bypassed the stat with some fittings he put together and did a flush like normal. You have to disconnect the feed and return for the cooler and just let them gravity drain if you want to get that as well. That's the way I remember it anyway.

That makes sense, I guess I'd have to remove the line from the transmission and put in a barbed fitting and a hose since the hoses on the stat are NOT coming off those barbs. Now maybe someone will stop by and say what size& type fitting I need for the transmission. Wish I had an old tranny line to use.
On second thought I think I can cut the rubber lines off at the Derale and install AN fittings on the Derale and the lines. I think the AN fittings will make up for the inch or so I will lose when I cut the lines off.
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I took the truck to the hydraulic shop and the owner and I crawled under it and measured everything. I made a bracket to hold the lines where they go between the pan and cross member. The lines are wrapped with a plastic spiral covering used for hydraulic lines to protect them from chaffing. I need to figure out how to post pics from my phone. I am truly a techno tard.
