About 3 weeks ago I replaced glow plugs. At that time I installed new OEM Ford orings under the CCV doghouse. Lucky me had a leaky injector cup 2 weeks later, so i got to go into the valve covers again. Anyhow, one of the two large orings was stretched out and both were already kinda soft - presumably from oil.
Is there a better alternative out there to the OEM orings for the CCV. I know the OEM oring has a unique shape to it. I see that diesel orings sells a normal oring for the doghouse made of viton durometer 90.
The oring was stretched enough that i couldn't get the doghouse to seal nicely. I can't believe what it looked like after 3 weeks.
Yeah..they are a sponge...
in a pinch, I used some out of an oring kit from depot...been installed for years now and no leaks..btw, you can remove the vs without removing the doghouse
Well, last night I looked at some injector orings and thought that could work. I tried the pink one and it fit perfectly. It seems to be a much harder material and we know those last being exposed to oil. I actually think it fit better than the OEM. It seats tightly on the doghouse and doesn't move when you are moving or installing it.
Then this morning I see that 2 of you have suggested it. In the hundreds of posts I have read about the CCV orings, this is the first time I have seen injector orings suggested.
Anyone have them in the CCV long term? Did they stretch?
Even I have to admit that there are a couple of places where I have deviated from OEM orings... and the CCV is one of them. The oil fill tube is another.
