Some Mod Questions?!?!?!?!

i ordered my adrenaline pump earlier today so it will probably be here in 2 weeks or so but along with it im going to delete my fuel bowl with dieselsite's kit since i have their RR and with that i also want to replace the #8 LL injector with a normal AD one. can i just yank out the old one and really quickly put in the new injector and not have to worry about all the draining and cranking stuff or do i realistically need to follow some serious steps? im a little aprehensive about the injector swap, its the only thing that makes me a little nervous since i have never messed with them. thanks in advance for any help.......

You will not have enough time to pull that injector and slam in the new one.
By the time you have the injector removed from the hole, enough HPOP engine oil and diesel fuel will have drained into the cylinder to fully hydrolock it if you don't clear it out.
It's not that hard to do compared to repairing the damage that could happen if you don't!
And remember, don't forget to retorque the rocker pedastals and the other seven injectors.

I don't condone this, but the stuff that goes into the cylinder is easy to get out. Install new injector, pull glow plug, install valve cover and bolts, turn engine over, put glow plug back in. I did this a few times at the dealer when 94-95s were having all of the o-ring troubles. Don't ask me how I figured out to not do it without a valve cover and then learning to put the valvecover bolts in to hold it.

I usually just turn the crank by hand with a big ratchet with the glow plug removed. That will remove most of the fluids, and simply laying a bunched up rag over the hole does a good job catching the fluid.

Then with the glow plug still out and a buddy holding a rag kind of over the hole, unplug the CPS, pull the IDM relay, or any other item that will not allow the truck to start, and bump the starter a few times to blow out the rest of the fluids.

I wouldn't worry too much about the injector change. The worst part of the swap is discovering how far oil can shoot out of the glow plug hole but you've been warned, so no surprises for you.

I know it will shoot most of the way up a 20' Morton building. Thought I would get smart on the next one and set the valve cover on the head with no bolts. Launched it across the shop with a spray of oil instead of a nice stream. Next round was v/c bolted down.
