Hey I’ve got a 93 bronco with a 5.8 motor. Replaced a leaky front pump seal earlier this year only for it to blow after 30 miles or so.
Pulled and replaced again and found it leaks only when park or neutral... assuming the pump may be bad, I pulled it this afternoon and found my torque converter has a nick or two in it, and the input shaft seems stuck in the pump (normally I’ve been able to pull the inner shaft out).
Notice the 3 “nicks” on the impeller hub?
Anyways, I’ve attached a photo of the TQ neck in hopes someone could give me a second opinion here. Is that nick enough to cause a fluid leak and if so, what caused that? I am looking to replace the pump altogether with an F5 and hoping to be rid of this problem, but if a new TQ is necessary I will go that route as well. Thank you for your time and consideration
I don't think those nicks are enough to cause it to leak. All of the rest of the damage on the hub is more than enough to cause the leak. You need a new torque converter.

thanks Mark, do you have any idea why the input shaft might be stuck in the pump? I still can’t get that out and it has me slightly concerned
The pump bushing is most likely wiped out too letting too much pressure to get to the seal. Since its a 93 do yourself a favor and put a 95+ pump in for better line pressure. The pump gears were made larger in 95 to help cure some of the E4ODs problems.
