C3TZ-17757-C .. Front Bumper - Less Brackets / Obsolete
1963/69 N500/750 // No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any, none on ebay.
Glass and door internal parts are the same as F100/1100, weatherstrips are reproduced, not much else is.
When the truck arrives please focus some attention to its wheels. Many of the 1963/64 F/B-600 trucks came with hub piloted wheels having the widow maker Firestone RH-5° two piece rims. Most shops won’t deal with them anymore, and being hub piloted exact replacement wheels aren’t available. But there are solutions if you find you have them. Stu
Thanks Stu! And I have read some of your articles in the past. I have a source where I can buy the old military split ring rims. Will probably go that way unless I find a better way on the rims.
Howdy and "The Mule" just came in and will start off with brakes and engine. She's got a way to go, but has alot of kick to her! LOL
Keep you posted and yes, thank you, I will need help for sure! Chris in TX This was at her old home. This is "The Mule's" new stable! lol
Got "The Mule" in yesterday! She's alittle rough around the edges, sort of speak. Any you guys know where to get motor and brake parts? Napa I have seen is good? Probably going to need carb kit, bushings, bearings, etc.
It may take you a while to get to the point of inspecting the brake drums. Do not spend a lot of money on your truck until you know for sure. Brake drums are NOT available anywhere. You cannot drive the truck safely without good brakes and it is like looking for a needle in a haystack finding drums if you need even one drum. I have a 1967 F600 and I am passing on good information to you that I learned for myself. Also, brake boosters are hard to find for specific year models and you may have to send the booster to Cardone in order to get it rebuilt. I am not trying to discourage you but someone needs to let you know. Also consider changing the points over to electronics. I rebuilt the carb' on my kitchen table and bought a whole complete HEI distributor. I took a battery and a gas can and drove my truck home out of a pasture where it had been sitting for 10 years or more. It had NO brakes. At least you have your truck where you can work on it already. GOOD LUCK and welcome to the forum.
Thank you Robclark for your honesty in this restoration. Yes, it is a huge undertaking. I am first looking at the motor, then brakes, and then electrical. It is hard to find parts and I have looked all over the net and asked. But, we love these trucks and want to get them on the road! This is my first big truck build and looking forward to the challenge and gratification of bringing her back to life and driving. It might take a few years, but with help from you and all here, we can, and I can accomplish anything. The Mule and I thank you again!
I bought a low mileage fire truck with a blown engine from a member here (Thanks Destroked) for parts and scored 4 very nice drums and a whole host of other bits for my C850. I also picked up a 17k mile spare engine and transmission locally off facebook. If you're not in a hurry and you don't plan on racking up a ton of miles you can still keep one of these old beasts going.
On a side note, my grandpa had a toter made out a truck just like yours. I've always had a soft spot for them. If you haven't already get Numbers Dummy to decode your vin and find out what axles etc you have. It makes looking for parts a bit easier.
Excellent! I saw one many years ago and got a crush on these trucks. "The Mule" manually turns over and going to overhaul the carb. I need to wash the engine and get all my grounds up to snuff. Still looking for a front bumper.
Thank you for your response!
You are in good hands if Destroked has your back. Finding good drums is great news. Go buy some lottery tickets because you are on a roll !!!! I just came home from buying new brake lines for the rear. I finally found wheel cylinders that are pretty close to the old obsolete wheel cylinders. Finding a new axle seal has been a challenge but Peach State Ford (and Freightliner) crossed the obsolete number on the old seal and said that a Stemco 392 9035 will work. I have already ordered and returned every possible seal that NAPA could find. If the Stemco seal is the right one then I will have most of the brake system ready to mount. This should be the only hold up keeping me from having her back on the road. The exhaust manifold gaskets were history years ago so I will probably have to pull the engine in order to fix it properly. I have to go see the prostate doctor tomorrow so the truck might go on the back burner. Father Time and Mother Nature have a sense of humor and the joke is on us!!!!
