400m to 460 swap

400m to 460 swap
I have a 460 out of a 1984 f250 that im swapping into my 1979 Ford f250 that had the 400m 460 was a automatic trans motor and I'm swapping it to bolt up to a 4 spd off of the 400m I need a new flywheel and not sure what to order for it can anyone help?

You will need the counter balanced flywheel and a diaphragm style clutch. Also the correct pilot bearing. L&L Products can help with that. That's how I swapped my auto 460 to a manual. Motor mounts and accessories/drives will be your other issues.

I've done this twice. If you're using the 400 bell housing, order the correct flywheel and clutch kit from L&L Products in Rowlett, TX. They custom make these parts for this swap, along with other things. Pricey but quality stuff. You will need to enlarge the center hole in the 400 block plate to clear the 460 flywheel flange. Kit comes with 302 pilot bearing fits second step of 460 crank.
