Update on my CEL. Brought it to a local shop and code came back as MAP sensor. Did a little more digging and steered my mechanic to an ECU update or flash from Ford. Purchased the update from Ford and updated the ECU and fixed the CEL. MAP sensor was not replaced btw.
any one else have this same experience?
Should not have been any charge for the update from Ford. The IDS software is available for free download from MotorCraft website. This IDS software has the latest calibration files and PCM/ECU flash info.
What was the code? I have a 2016 6 7 that had a check engine light and a p0170 was the number and that was the exact fix....PCM update. Something to the effect of a sensor was too sensitive and the update retards the sensitivity a bit.
There's a thread in this form somewhere regarding that code where I posted all my information.
My code was P2074. I now have changed the NOx sensor, MAF sensor and EGR valve and CEL came back on again after driving 15 miles. This is exhausting? Anya one out here having similar issues?
Mine was “DPF efficiency below threshold” (P2002, I think). Ford replaced the entire converter assembly (DPF, catalyst, and SCR) under warranty. This was accompanied by occasional exhaust smoke... and dirty exhaust tips.

This is the problem with codes. A single code could mean many things and you can chase your tail and spend lots of money replacing parts and still not fix the problem. Sometimes its best to have your dealer fix the problem.
I don't have anything helpful to add about what the issue could be so here is what the 2016 Factory Service Manual has to say about that code. Hopefully somebody will come along with some help or this info will point you in the direction of the problem.

There is a recall on the Crank case ventilation system. You need to take your vin to the dealer and see if your truck is effected. It looks like there may be a leak in the intake somewhere. Is your CAC pipe still stock? How is your boost? Is your air filter clean?
