I've got an 85 f150 with a c6 and a 351 windsor 4 barrel holley. I don't know if they ever came factory with a kick down cable but mine doesnt have one. Is that something that I can just buy a cable and put on there? Not sure how it works but I would like a kick down
Not sure if they made a kickdown cable for the c6. Each one I have seen has a kickdown rod. It's bright yellow. That would be a junkyard item. And then you would need the kit from holley to adapt it to the carb. You can buy holley carbs that accept the ford kickdown already added on to them.
yeah its definitely a rod. My old i6 engine and c6 has one and so does my new 351 and c6. I don't think the kickdown rods are the same between engines either so be careful. The 351 one looks different than the i6 one
I will be removing the kickdown rod from my 300 I6 here soon. It's a common thing for us 300 I6 guys that swap to a Offy 4bbl single plane intake. That intake rotates the carb 90* from stock, necessitating a swap to a cable. I'll be going with a Lokar from Summit.
So, to your question of just buying a kickdown cable, yes, you absolutely can, you just need a way to connect to the carb. It bolts right to the trans. I don't think it'll be in a junkyard.

Thanks for the replies guys! I haven't been on here in a while but I appreciate it. I'll look into getting a rod and getting it hooked up

I've actually got one more question. If I find a rod from a junkyard truck does it have to be the same carb? Or just any old 4 barrel? There's a local junkyard and I've taken parts off of this truck before, it has a 302 with a 2 barrel and a c6. Would this work?

I never tried one with the official holley setup. I would get it and see how it works out.

The rods will work from 4BLL or 2 BBL you may need to tweak them a bit but they will work.
