Parking brake adjustment

So my parking brake doesn't hold on even the slightest hill. I adjusted it per the service manual and it's still not like I feel it should be. I had the dealer look at it when I had it in for the Sync issue and of course they said it held fine and it was adjusted out as far as it could go. So what to do? Surely the pads aren't shot at 58k miles. Anyone else experience this? My parents driveway is a slight incline and it won't hold on it. It's going back in Wednesday because Sync is still locking up and I'm going to have them address it again but just looking for feedback before I go.

Take the wheels and tires off, take the caliper off and inspect the inner shoes that are the brake pads. You likely have a worn out shoes, or a stuck star wheel problem on one side, or both issues. The brake shoes inside if you look at a blow up, are not likely to be worn out unless you left brake on driving. There is also a star wheel adjuster slot on the backing plate, if you know what your doing with a brake spoon. It’s a pain to do all this, but if the dealer is not working it out you might have no choice. As the service writer lives so you can park your truck on a hill beside his Vehicle?

I adjusted the star wheel with a brake spoon until I could just hear them drag when I spun the tire. I may pull one side off before taking it back in again and see how worn it is.

Worth a try, you will often find that you have to back them off to get the disk off for a proper inspection.

Mine wouldn’t hold from new. I had to get in the truck and hold the brake when loading heavy stuff.

I made the dealer fix it but it only had like 11k miles on it at the time.

You remember what they did? My parking brake goes all the way in which I don't think it should do.

They fixed it.

Take it to them under the 60k warranty. Its not a wear item.

I found a YouTube video showing you're suppose to tighten then as tight as you can so they wheel won't spin at all. This is to equalize the shoes. Then back it off till it spins freely. It took both sides probably 15 clicks to tighten tight and only 4-5 to free them up. The parking brake pedal gets real firm now about halfway down and it seems to actually be working now. I had never heard of this technique but it seems to have worked.
