on our trip home from Missouri on the I44 toll road when I passed the last gas station I had 30 miles DTE more than Oklahoma city so I didn't fuel on the toll road. truck decides to regen, then get some strong head winds, then the 50 miles to empty, then 25 miles to empty then 10 miles to empty, google shows closest station at 10 miles.
S&B investment looking real good right now.
Either ford lied about fuel capacity or the pump is metering wrong. book says 48 gallons.
Miles to Empty is a computed value that is constantly being updated within the PCM. Most times it is a best guess as there is no flow meter in the fuel line to show gallons used.
Thought they were smart enough to program them not to regen under 1/4 or at least an 1/8th of a tank. I remember my first run in with a regen screwing me on a 6.4L For every actual mile a traveled during regen the DTE went down by a little over 2. Was kind of the same situation, had plenty of fuel until I started losing it at more than twice the rate and could then see the fuel gauge dropping.
Your brave running low on fuel while traveling the Oklahoma turnpikes. There can be 20-30 miles between exits let alone fuel tops. Glad you made it just barely.

yeah I wouldn't call that brave. just dumb luck.well I will say God was watching over us as I don't believe in dumb luck. I wasn't expecting the head wind and a regen at 45% DPF. I ended up drafting a semi for 15 miles. I think that is the only reason I made it to the station.

your regens at 45%? Mine won’t start regen until the DPF status reads 99%, then it starts regen and dropping down.
forscan, that took all of 2 minutes to do. There is a sticky thread at the top of the super duty forum.
I recently did this on my 2019 F350 XLT. Easy to do and I like being able to monitor the regens. I can also monitor the regens through my Torque Pro app on my phone. The only thing I don't get is the particulate filter reading on the app. I just watch the #13 and #14 exhaust system sensor temps and when they go over 1000 degrees, I'm in a regen.
