ECM re-flash / deceleration rattle
I had a check engine light a few weeks ago and my code scanner said it was a miss on #6. The light went away by the time I got back home and the truck seemed to be running ok so I didn't get in a hurry to schedule a visit to the dealer. My 5.0 has always seemed to be a little noisy to me. Last winter when the engine was still getting to operating temp in cold ( below freezing) weather, I would hear a rattle when I would ease off the throttle. I changed to full synthectic oil and didn't notice any change. I took her in today and they said there were VCT codes, they flashed the ECM and it seemes to be quieter . Usually I would have to listen to enough rattle to be irritating to me in a drive thru lane but today going through McD's after the dealer visit, it really was quieter. I hope it takes care of the deceleration rattle when it gets colder.
