i removed the smog pump **** and now my e350 wont start. not getting vacum to my fuel regulator. will fire if i squirt starting fluid in . 92 e350.not getting a 12volt signal to my fuel injectors.
Um, well, not exactly the right forum since this one covers the 1961-67 Ranchero and Econoline. However, you E350 won't start becasue you arbitrarily removed things that the onboard computer cannot find, or get proper information. Removing smog equipment on EEC-IV-equipped vehicles basically removes the fresh air injection to the head and the catalytic converter. As a result, the O@ sensor is getting extremely "RICH" exhaust gas readings from the instant you try to start the van. As a result, the computer dials back the fuel/air mixture so far that it is too "LEAN" to start because removing the air injection pump and plumbing removes something that the onboard computer is programmed to "expect" to be present. That extra air injection leans out the fuel air mixture naturally and the computer is programmed to "assume" that extra air is there. And when it's NOT there, the mixture is overly rich but the computer is expecting it to be leaner. Everyone knows that a cold engine requires a richer mixture until it has warmed up. The computer is programmed to work with the onboard sensors to control all that automatically. When you remove only some parts of the system, you adversely affect every other aspect of it. In short, unless you are able to "Fool" the EEC-IV computer that probelm will be there from now on.
The van has little to no vacuum as it starts. You need to check the things needed for a motor to run, fuel pressure, air going in, and spark. Then work your way backwards. Just eliminating the smog pump shouldn't affect it that much since many on here have done it. You may want to search and see what their results were. It sounds like you may have hit something or disconnected something by accident.
