460 swap into a F-100

Let me give you a bit of background and then I will ask my questions.

I have a 1994 F-150 SCSB rear wheel drive chassis. It was a 5.0L and 5 speed truck. I removed the body and I am putting on a 1981 F-100 SCSB to this chassis because it is a lot better than the 81. I was going to go 5.0L and 4R70 from a 96 F-150 but I accidentally found a 1994 7.5L and E4OD combo. So i grabbed the whole harness and drivetrain and brought it home. I swapped out the 5.0 engine perches for the F250 460 ones. I already set the engine into place and found that the oil filter/oil cooler hit the cross member. My plan is to make the PCM as a stand alone harness so I can keep it clean in the engine bay. I also want to remove all the air injection stuff since it is not required where I live.

Now the questions.

1) Can I remove the oil cooler assembly and just run a FL-1A oil filter?
2) Does any one have pics of where I cut the cross member to clearance the oil filter?
3) When I remove the oil cooler off of the engine, can I use an earlier year of F250 with a 7.5L lower rad hose?

Thanks guys for the help.

I removed the oil cooler lines on my 97' 5.8L and bypassed it with a different hose, seems to work just fine. On my engine at least you can un-thread the oil cooler stud and replace it with a much shorter stud from an engine not equipped with an oil cooler and lose the cooler completely. Edit. (You just need a 7/16 hex key to get the stud out and your filter would be about 2.5 to 3 inches closer to the block).
Also I would highly recommend getting the factory ford electrical and vacuum shop manual for modding your 460 harness. I made my 5.8L stand alone and couldn't have done it without that book. Got mine for about 80 bucks new on ebay.

Cutting the crossmember is an option but its not pretty. Check out this link for a pic: 1984 Ford Bronco 460 Swap picture | SuperMotors.net

Most people buy and install a remote oil filter kit.
