Just an fyi, our tailgate was stolen from our 2015 F350 while it was at the transmission shop. I guess this is a big thing as there are locks to lock up your tailgate (who knew). Anyone know of a place to get a tailgate? Our insurance is handling this but the body shop is having some difficulty finding a replacement.
Yes, it’s actually a rather big issue. I Buddy owns a GMC Dealership, insert joke, and he says they absolutely have to lock the tailgates on the trucks that don’t automatically lock them with the doors. Regarding finding one, Google, CL, Fakebook, dealerships, and shops that install flatbeds. Another option would be a fifth wheel tailgate

San Francisco Bay Area and the truck is white. Why do you ask?
Just a couple of quick examples that I found. You didn't state whether or not you had a Platinum, or if your tailgate had the integrated step. From the amount of the replacement cost you mentioned...I'm thinking Platinum with the step.
There are several different brands of tailgate locks. I'm referring to the type that locks onto the hinge to keep someone from removing it. If someone knows what they are doing though...they can defeated. Below are several different types. Some people will just attach a stainless steel hose clamp around the right side hinge of the tailgate and torque it down. Most thieves are looking for a quick grab and go. These types of locks will definitely throw off most thieves.
