These types of locks will definitely throw off most thieves.

We have a lock, now. My husband was able to watch the security video of the theft. There is a row of stores and behind the stores is a parking lot. Behind that parking lot is a row of auto services, that's where the transmission shop is located. So the shop is not on the main drag. Our truck was parked next to the building that the shop is in, kinda around the corner from the door to the shop. There is also a car wash located in the same row. The thieves new the truck was there. They drove right up to it. They weren't just out looking for any old truck. Our truck was parked very close to another car. One thief jumped out of the Charger, opened the truck's tailgate a bit (as that was all he could open it) got the tailgate and shoved it into the back seat of the charger. They drove about 25 feet, popped the trunk on the charger and shoved it into the trunk and on into the charger. We bought this truck as a used truck. The dealership had every section of the truck tagged with anti theft stickers. We asked the dealer what that was about. He answered that the trucks are a big theft item and after they are stolen they are parted out. The stickers gives the dealership a way to track each part of the truck if stolen. sucks

Putting a hose clamp on the passenger side attachment is a good deterrent. I used a spring type as I figure a crook would more likely have a screwdriver than a channel lock. If the gate won’t come off quickly, they’re more likely to look elsewhere.
