I've done several searches and I've seen a number of different headers used for a 460 swap into a 2wd. Would like some input on how they fit, any issues, things like that. Really don't want to spend $1000 on headers. Power levels aren't crazy. I'm going to be around 4-450 hp and 5-525 torque. I read that headers won't really boost me all that much at this lvl anyway. However, I like the sound of headers. I just need to know what's going to fit with the least modification and work well. I have the perches from a 79 F250 2wd that I am going to use to put motor in, but I see headman recommends their mounts. I don't know if I need that but I think I saw there were some issues with fitment, so real world application is what I'm looking for. Thank you.
You definitely want headers for 400+hp. Stock power level was 200ish, manifolds were fine. Above 300 hp, manifolds start to choke out your investment at higher rpms.
I build similar 460 at 425 hp/525 tq and use L&L headers.
You will have a tight area where the headers go over #2 the crossmember on the right side. One way to to make connecting the headers to the exhaust system is with a ball socket arraignment. Muffler shops can make the male female pieces and supply the flanges.
