Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with my 2003 E150 sliding side door.
It started when the door wouldn't lock even though the actuator rod would move with the power lock and manually.
I took the door panel off and started trying to figure out how the latch worked. While I was moving the door handles from the inside and outside at the same time, a piece of plastic with metal cast in it fell out of the assembly. P(attached below)
I have no idea where it came from or how to fix the door since now it won't open at all with the handles.
I can still open the door by pushing on a little metal arm with a screw driver.
What is the best way to fix this? Piece from door.
That's a good find JimBoMitch but doing a quick Google search using "ford 6C2Z15264A00BA" I found several new latches as low as $125: Ford Sliding Door Latch
If I had one of those fricking sliding doors I'd jump all over one of those latches and probably lay another one on the shelf for the next time.
Agreed that they can be had a lot cheaper, I just posted the first one that came up. Probably could get it even cheaper than $125.00 if you spent the time shopping.
Thanks for the replies JWA and jimbomitch.
Has anyone replaced one of these before?
It looks like the old one is riveted on but the pic of the replacement part seems to have threaded holes?

Reason: oops
Never did one on a slider but if they're riveted just drill them out. I think a 1/4" drill bit works the best. Take a pin punch and knock the rivet mandrel out first, before you drill.
