I am having problems with the electrical system. "ie" Power windows, wipers, blower motor, radio. In extreme cold one or all does not work. Atleast I assume it is when it is cold. I have looked up wiring diagrams in the Chilton manual to no avail. Is there a relay or something at the fuse panel that I should look at? I have heard of this happening in other vehicles besides Ford. All help is greatly appreciated!
Start off by checking the battery cables , Esp the ground cable . Temperature definetly affects electrical connections if they are loose or corroded . There are also a few engine to body ground straps that may play some part in the problem .
In realy cold weather your battery amps can fall off, check the age and water level of your battery. Also check out how responsive your alternator is by putting every electrical device on and with a meter seeing what the output is flowing at. If the idle on your engine is to low then your system wont be able to power all the electrical demand. Make sure the alternator belt is tight and all connections off the alternator are solid.
I also have a similar problem, turn signals and blower do not work if the key is not turned back a little after start up. I have not fixed it yet but have figured out the cause. I do not have power windows or have I checked the wipers during this period. Hope this helps, if not good luck.
