e99 engine swap

I'm swapping out the 7.3 in my e99 f350 with 400,000on the clock for a 2001 7.3 form a truck i rolled with only135000 on it doing a few turbo upgrades like new wheel from riffraffe and ebpv delete, new oil pan.
I still have the 01 donor truck is there any thing else i should swap while the engine is out of the e99?
the tranny also has to come out for a rebuild is it possible to pull engine and trans together ? will be pulling turbo off and front end apart to make it easier to pull engine i plan on installing the trans cooler from the 01 .

Swap all the induction side, like up pipes (go with late 99 bellowed), turbo pedestal, intake plenums.

You will just use the ‘01 engine as is. Swap the E99 engine harness onto the newer engine.

Upgrade to SS bellowed up-pipes from Riffraff. Consider deleting or rebuilding the EBPV. DIY delete costs as little as $1. Don’t waste $$$ on a pedestal, etc.

Remove clamps on fuel lines in the engine valley.

Order the parts cabinet from www. dieselorings.com . At least rebuild the water drain valve if not the whole fuel bowl. Replace all of the HPO line o-rings.

Remove coolant block drains while engine is out. Anticipating doing a proper cooling system flush after new engine is in.

Snug up the oil dipstick flange on oil pan and apply RTV around the nut and threads.

Do the $0.52 mod and replace GP’s (Motorcraft ONLY).

Clean the EBPS tube.

If the exhaust manifold bolts are rusty, consider replacing them. It will never be easier.

Remove flex plate and check for cracks at hub.

Consider rebuilding the oil cooler.

No, can’t pull engine and trans together.

Dont unhook AC or PS systems. You’ll leave the AC compressor and the PS pump bracket/pump in the truck.

The grill, headlights, header panel can all stay in the E99.

Im bound to think of other stuff to suggest as my coffee kicks in...

Good luck!! Keep us posted and don’t be afraid to ask questions!!!!!!

You don’t have to clean and paint the engine and engine bay/chassis. But I do. I can stop anytime I want.

Why would you want to?

I would not mix harnesses if the E99 works. It’s easy to swap over while engines are out.

The intake heater is not needed.

Replace it with Riffraff plug or a Cummins oil pan drain plug.

The newer turbo sits higher so you'll need to do something to make your downpipe reach, like swap it in off of the '01 if possible. And you'll use the rubber tube off of the '01 that connects directly to the turbo. Technically, it's called the turbo inlet tube, the rest of the piping is the same.

The downpipe is fine. But all the stuff I listed above is a problem. Its far more expensive and time consuming to do a L99+ swap than to buy E99 bellowed up-pipes - even if you have to buy a new collector because you welded it...

The least expensive repair is replace the E99 up-pipes and donuts with new ones.

on edit: I mixed up different threads... my brain is a mess!
