Off the wall Question we just moved and were towing 8k.
I knew before we made the trip my ICP was going bad.
Ordered one but showed up the Day before we moved so I put in the Glove box because the tools were pack up.
every now and then during long up grade towing The check engine light would come on yes ICP code.
I would clear it but same time I would get a Exhaust back pressure code each time.
I want say it did the 6 times farther we drove it throw the code more often.
When we reached out new home I Swapped out the ICP and no more codes.
The Question is will a bad ICP also throw the Exhaust Pressure code keep in mind it only did this under load on long hills.
I thought about taking the exhaust pressure tube off and replacing it but if the ICP was causing the code why pull it off the truck.
Check the tube, it is probably bad. But what you are describing sounds like over boost. Do you have a tune and no boost fooler? That is what usually causes that. Light comes on then clears itself after a while.
Clean the Exhaust sensor and tube and should be fine and run better. You most likely do not need a new Exhaust sensor, just clean the carbon off the sensor and diaphragm. be careful not to poke a hold in the rubber diaphram.
The EBP tube on my F350 was rusted out in several areas in conjunction the exhaust manifold fitting was stripped out...not seating good because of rust. The EBP tube on the wife's Excursion was in really good shape...probably given it stays in the garage. Both trucks had original EBP sensors that I've cleaned a couple times over the years. I started noticing really bad fuel economy on both trucks so I tested the EBP sensors and they were bad...even had a spare from another low mileage truck that was bad. I ordered new EBP sensors, installed them on both trucks, and boom both trucks got quite a bit of an increase in fuel economy. See my post here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-fitting.html and look at post #5, though the whole thing is informational.
ThanksI replace the tube and sending unit I feel the Truck should get better MPG than it getting I purchased the truck used so I never knew the MPG could get I getting 15 MPG now.
But I gave notice it runs smoother when it cold once warms up it runs ruffer.
