My drag link joint that looks like a tie rod end is a bit lose, I cleaned and and greased and it is significantly better but not sure how long it will last. I did a forum search and there are no replacements for this item. It is item 3305 in the attached image, If it gets worse I was thinking of having it machined to fit a tie rod end as when I had it apart I tested the fitment of a spare tire rod end and i noticed to boot had the same P/N and my tie rod end fits perfectly it would seem. My concern is that I would change one end to have the end that attaches to the pitman arm crap out. Any other ideas/solutions for this? Does any other drag link fit, I am fine with minor modification to make it work.
My second question is I have been noticing that when I drive the old 1 ton it feels like I'm dragging a parachute. It has been tuned up, new plugs and wires, distributor cleaned and points set, compression is 149-152, fuel system operating perfectly, no knocking or irregular noises in the engine. Brakes are not dragging. I am having the timing check in a day or so and going to get the exhaust checked Friday as well, one muffler seems to sputter a bit. Anyone have any other ideas. I was hauling wood today and even loaded climbing a hill it would accelerate and has no problem maintaining speed. But as I push the pedal it just feels like I'm dragging something, no stubble or sputter just feels not quite right. I know it's not a mustang but seem like something is amiss.
Basic part number for a drag link could be 3304 or 3305. In this case, it's 3304.

Any alternate drag ling for this. I'm at the point where I may cut the bad end of and replace ( have a machine shop sleeve or tap and thread it) it with a tie rod end which is the same size. Has anyone else done this? is the tube hollow or solid?
Anyone else ever make mods or figure out a better way to deal with this. maybe change the pitman arm and drag link all together with something else. All ideas are appreciated.
Call Dennis Carpenter Co., and ask for the NOS truck parts guy. They have a stash of parts that are not in the normal catalogs, some not even inventoried.
Worth a shot...
