So, I spent all day waxing my brand new Explorer, and despite the utmost care, I managed to get some wax on the plastic trim that is on the fender and lower body. Regarding this problem, I have two questions:
1.) Whats the safest way to remove this wax from the plastic trim? I know plenty of cleaners that will strip the wax off (Windex, Dawn, etc.) but I don't want to damage the plastic, and I don't want to strip the wax of the finish near the trim, lol.
2.) Whats the best way to prevent this in the future? I've considered using painter's masking tape to cover all the plastic/rubber parts before waxing, but that may be a bit over the top =) Does anyone have any special way of applying wax that makes it easy to avoid the trim?
What I do is have some WD40 and a toothbrush or any form of a smaller brush with stiff bristles. Spray some on the brush and scrub the areas with wax. In the future use either masking tape or the painters tape You should be good to go after that.

Sounds crazy but creamy peanut butter will get wax residue off.
Actually Joe, the peanut butter theory only covers it up. Its a temp fix that will make you very hungry... LOL Most of the oily products will only cover. It does look great when its first done though

Interesting.
I never tried peanut butter thing but have read about using it on many car care forums.
