Have an white '05 Escape with the gray plastic trim all around the bottom 1/3 of the vehicle. Previous waxings have left dried wax on the textured gray trim adjacent to the paint. Any good wax removers or techniques to remove the dried wax from the textrured trim without damaging the material? Thought maybe mineral spirits and a toothbrush - but dont want to stain or discolor the trim. Any suggestions will be considered...
I use Palmolive (the cheapest and least expensive stuff that works) to strip the wax off my car or truck before waxing it again when detailing. Make it rich, let it "stand", keep it moist and rub on it. The wax will go away, I promise.
I use Mother's preserves and a tooth brush, killing two birds with one stone. Dress the trim and clean the wax out. You can probably use any trim care product with a tooth brush to do the job.
not kidding either... removes all wax residue from all my grey trim pieces with easy... i bought the white ones and keep a microfiber handy to wipe away the flakes... give it a try and thank me later
Dishsoap won't work. It might be a degreaser but was isn't grease. It STAINS trim and is why it is such a paint ot get off. An earaser might work, start there. If that doesn't work try some WD-40. If that doesn't work one thing that will for sure do the trick is peanut butter. It is just messy as Hell and a pain in the butt. Smear peanut butter on the plastic and let it sit for a half or to an hour then hose it off.
