Working on a 1965 F100 4WD. This has the wronged - 8 feet.
The VIN number is: F11DR615339
i have a few questions about the rear axle and parking brake parts.
at some time in its life the rear axle was changed to a 3/4 ton 8 lug Dana 60 without brake cable hubs.
Backing plates do not seem to to have access holes for brake cables - just brake cylinder.
if I need to replace this axle with an F100 axle: who would or may have a rear axle from a 1961-64 F100 4WD? Or 1/2 ton from 1961-72 with 3.50 ratio? Is there a boneyard or used parts supplier that may specialize in the older Ford trucks that you can recommend? Not sure where to start...
it’s missing rear parking brake cables. To pass inspection and for my preference I need a working parking brake.
cant seem to find 4WD rear parking brake cables under year 1966.
This might help ID the rear axle if you can find the BOM and dates shown here. They are stamped fairly lightly into the right side tube so a good wipe down with a solvent soaked rag is a good place to start if it has any build-up on the tube.
