I believe it is a crash bar to meet federal regulations, apparently didn’t come into effect until a couple years after the super duty’s were out, mine doesn’t have it.
It’s a crash bar. The first year superduty didn’t have them. My 99 sits tall from the factory and I guess when they rear ended cars the trucks tend to ride up as they hit. So the crash bar is designed to catch the car. Sort of like the rear of a tractor trailer has the metal bar that hangs diwn.so when a yahoo n a low slung sports car hits the back they dint go in under the trailer
yea you are missing the air dam.
And as far as when they put them on....my 99 F250 doesn’t have a crash bar. My 2000 f350 and 2001 F350 both have them...so somewhere after 99 they started using them.
My 2000 F350 doesn't have a crash bar. It also didn't have the lower spoiler when I bought it back in 2001. I added a leaf spring to pick the truck up about 1.5" in the front. Last year I replaced the front bumper and it had a spoiler attached to it so now there is one on the truck now.
