Just August

America, we have splash-down. Nice to have something good to report.

Hope all who pass here are of good health & retain their strengths, wits & a sense of humor in these grim times.

Dry, semi-cool weather means I'll get out & see if there are any lost vehicles or home appliances hiding in my grass.

So we're stetting records. 1 out of 5 tests are positive for the rona' for a national per-capita high of 20% beating Florida right now.

For the latest numbers here in MS:

Stay safe.

The flag thing STILL pisses me OFF....
Governor Opie should NEVER have done what he did..... To be a true and honorable thing..... there SHOULD HAVE BEEN A VOTE...... but the people were NOT ALLOWED to speak.

After they took the TRUE Mississippi flag away.....

PERSONALLY....I don't give the fat *** of a rat what they hang on the pole.
(It probably should be the white flag of SURRENDER)

I'm one of "those people" who has a Roman numeral @ the end of my name coupled with the most confederate name you could imagine.

And I'm neither ashamed nor prideful beyond reason of it. Just that I've got a bigger dog in the hunt than most.

One of my relatives made the motion in the territorial legislature that we should petition Washington to join the Union & it was passed & we became the 20th state.

So you can take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I am tired of the flag. Wish that I had voted different before to avoid the crap going on now.

None of the choices fill me with pride or excitement.

But I understand why it's got to go. If I was of Jewish descent, damned if I could look at a swastika fluttering in the breeze everywhere & on everything official of my state.

Statues are somewhat different. I know there are those to honor the dead vs those that were an "up yours" to the north.

Just wish there was one less division to beat on right now.

Well..... the real thing I hate the most....

Governor Opie decided what the people wanted ....... This should have been put to a vote..... If there was a vote and the majority said remove the flag then fine. And I would be fine with it.

BUT... these small groups of people are getting together and deciding MAJOR things just rubs my fur in the WRONG direction.

Here is another good example in another state....... (Coming soon to a state near you....)

https://www.wyff4.com/article/buncom...vote/33518446#

All it takes is a small bunch (fly in the ointment) to ruin things for EVERYONE.

I'm pro 1894 flag, that being said, I won't argue with a public vote going the other way. Key phrase, public vote. Dilbert looked right in the camera and said that the legislature making this decision was proof the state was coming together. But the simple fact is, they are going to let us vote on the new design, without the old one being involved. If they were so confident that the old one wouldn't make it through a vote, why didn't they just leave it be, toss out some new designs with it on a ballot and see where it lands. Tater tot should have vetoed that bill, even if his veto wouldn't stand. He said he wanted a public vote then reneged. One term tater... SMDH.

As for the virus, one of my wife's coworkers thought she may have been exposed. Went to get tested, but there was a huge wait. She had already signed in, but decided she'd come back later and get tested. So, no test. Couple days later they called her and told her she tested positive...

Two things to remember, we have representative government, which means who we chose get to make the final decisions.

It's why there's a legislature.

As far as numbers/infections/deaths in pandemics throughout history have always been under-counted & I see no expectations this will be different.

The problem I have with the current legislature is they act on their personal bias rather than the will of those they represent. They were not elected to lead, they were elected to represent.

Agreed about pandemics throughout history, but I feel this one may be politically driven. A guy in Florida was killed in a motorcycle accident, it was listed as COVID, and they attempted to defend that position...

I'm really skirting the rules that mods imposed on chapter leaders in discussing political things outside the club because in this case policy is important to things directly influencing our state & people here.

I don't really care about what a person/people in Florida did. There are so many really stupid things the state & it's government have done & failed to do since the beginning of covid that it would be pointless.

Breitbart is not an honest broker of news & has a agenda to primarily stoke anger & distrust of the institutions needed to combat this virus.

I could provide countless examples, but again, pointless. Does nothing to help people & citizens here get through this working together.

So please, try & not push the limits for me that I have to work with. I'd appreciate it.

You're right David.... Sorry to push the limits....

In other news......
I drove over to Terry last weekend and got myself my NEW project.
My old 1978 LWB has been poopoo-ed by my wife so much that i got to looking around for a SWB.
Well..... This one presented itself and now it resides at my house.
1978, F100 custom. It has a 300 6cyl in it right now BUT I have a freshly overhauled 302 V8 that will soon go in.
I have been UN-doing some bubba mods and have more to go but this truck is miles ahead of my other truck.

SO..... without further "guilding of the lilly"..... Here she is......

Yep, it's 2 colors but at least under that paint, there is solid metal.

(Above the Ford emblem is me...... I'm beside myself)

Wow. That's what's better? (Not saying the new is bad)

Thought your existing truck was pretty nice.

How much? If Thomas & I wer'nt stomping out fires, one or both of us would have loved to nab that.
